The appointment of the cascades, Kandersteg 2010

In early January will take place one of the most anticipated events of the ice by fans. A unique opportunity to enjoy the ice, lectures, screenings, and the possibility of "clinics" with the best climbers in the world.

Every year at the start of the season, climbers from all over Europe will gather for presentations and ice climbing competitions. It is hoped the influx of 500 people between participants, public and visitors, as this festival is considered one of the most important events of ice in the Alps. 


 

The eleventh Ice Climbing Festival in Kandersteg be held between 8 and 10 January 2010 in the Bernese Oberland (Switzerland) in a new place ( ‘Seilpark Kandersteg’) near the hostel Gemmi Lodge. The ice will be secured and the walls are frozen by the way for competition and "workshops".

The famous climber Elbsandstein Bernd Arnold and Slovakian climber Dodo Kopold who will explain and discuss the developments live on the ice climbers. Bernd, on Saturday, and Dodo, on Sunday, also added humor and knowledge to the progression of the protagonists.

The competition on Saturday will be the star of the festival and as in previous years, after the meeting, there will be a party with live performance by a band.

On Sunday, the best climbers in the World Cup will give ice climbing courses ( "clinics") for beginners and experts. All material needed to achieve them will be provided to participants by the sponsors of the event.

The main sponsors of the Ice Climbing Festival in Kandersteg are Arc’teryx, Bachli Bergsport, Black Diamond, Lowa and Nokia, while the staff are the Kandersteg Tourist Service, Destination Lotschberg, Sterling Rope and Vertical and Klettern journals.
