Nestled in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, between the Andalusian provinces of Granada and Almeria, alongside the likes peaks of Veleta (3,393 m), or Alcazaba (3,371 meters), stands the Mulhacen, the roof of Andalusia and Peninsula. The mountains that make up the whole of the mountain has been declared by UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, in addition to Nature, as if all this were not enough, here is one of the most popular resorts of our country, and from then the southernmost of Europe.

The northern slopes of the Mulhacen, is long, the route of ascent is most used by mountaineering enthusiasts, the kind usually travel from Sierra Guejar village, situated at the foot of the mountain, in a really low altitude over the top. Is this a way to increase that lacks any kind of shelter all the way, which makes the place a bit, especially beginners, nothing likely to sleep in tent in the open.

Once we got to the terrace which is the call, lagoon fly, some 3,000 meters approximately, the true face north wall, the most complicated section of our ascent, it is a central corridor that runs through the entire wall , sends weather here, if we are in winter season, to avoid any further complication, it is advisable to strike during the middle of the day, and under all climatic stability, hailstorms, snow and wind gusts can reach on adverse to be formidable.

If we intend to make a gentle climb to crown the top easily and without undue complications, then we will approach from the west through the towns of Trevélez or Capileira, from here we can climb up Poqueira shelters, or Caldera, for well rested to face the last stretch of climb, the call of the circus boiler. A striking trig point we will welcome at the top, this landmark offers a series of statistical data – geographic coordinates and time, it sits on a slab of rock and contains a plaque commemorating the centenary of the link, Hispanic and Algeria, the panoramic, spectacular.

In summary, the highest peak on the sea level on the peninsula is not too difficult a climb, even by its north face, supposedly the most complicated, but it retains all the charm of a curious path in a magnificent environment.
