Telemark Skiing The Telemark is an ancient technique originating Morgedal in Telemark Print E-mail
ImageIt all started in a small Norwegian mountain village, Morgedal, there are over three hundred years. By making daring skiing competitions, ski jumps and turns, Sondre Norheim taught the world the Telemark skiing.

Telemark skiing differs from downhill skiing in style and equipment. The heel is not attached to the ski.

With the commercialization of the ski and leisure development of ski, the Telemark technique failed to penetrate. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Telemark turning technique was almost forgotten.

Today, we see telemark skiers worldwide. They are easy to recognize with their way down the runway dancing.

See if your resort offers courses Telemark to learn to master this unique way to ski.
