The work of the Federation is based on the following committees: qualifying, the commission of judges, for equipment, environment, sports and technology. 

National Federation of mountaineering and rock climbing of Ukraine goes back to 1955. Currently, it is the president Valentin Konstantinovich Simonenko. In 1973. Ukraine held its first competition of climbing, and since 1975. they were all-union. In the international arena for all types of climbing Ukraine has shown itself brilliantly: bronze at the world championships in speed ascents in 1993., Silver in 1997. These awards won Eugene Krivosheytsev, now triple world champion ledolazaniyu. Since then, over the decade, Ukrainian rock climbers (both male and female) to win in all types of climbing. 

After Elbrus 11 climbers died in May 2006. Dmitry Guryanov was asked to build a hut on Elbrus in order to shelter it from the weather. On this occasion, in 2007. Andrei Volkov, President of FAR, and a large private company «SPRANDI» came to the opinion of the uniqueness of the project, as the hut will accommodate about 30 people at an altitude of 5400m. The company agreed to sponsor the project (50% of the cost), and FAR will be his administration and the media coverage. Also, the Federation has been negotiating the financing from the State Rossportom. Construction began in May huts 2008. To implement the project were involved helicopters and ground equipment, but in August 2008. hut has not been established. 

The essence of Federation of alpinism, not only to solve problematic issues in mountain climbing, to implement projects associated with it, but also to organize tournaments and competitions, as well as to carry out experiments in the mountains in order to test ways to stay comfortable at altitude. For example, in 2005. Mountaineering Federation of Nevinnomyssk used radio Berkut-803 in the Championship of the Stavropol Krai. The remoteness of the base peaks (3550m-3800m) at 12km. Radio was, basically, with excellent quality. 

Activities planned for 2009 HEADLAMPS., Varied: competition climbing, ledolazaniyu, ski mountaineering, the All-Russia festival of extreme sports, the championship of Russia on mountaineering veteran. HEADLAMPS Projects for 2009: the transition to an individual membership (with 1.01.09g), construction of huts on the saddle Elbrus (15.06 – 15.08), participated in the construction of a shelter-11 (1.05 -15.09). The Federation also represents the life of their educational programs: training in preparation for the gathering token «Salvation Mountain» (Caucasus, Dombai.26.04 – 17.05), Central School of Mountaineering Instructors (Kavkaz.7.06 – 28.06), a workshop on the preparation of the judges on sports climbing.
