Ice climbing in first work

Submitted by on Monday, 15 February 2010No Comment

The online magazine Barrabes, in Section Technique and Practice, published a very interesting article entitled "Climbing ice first."

In it, Jose Carlos Iglesias gives us a few tips on how to be the first in a roped when ice climbing.

Start talking about the quality and texture of the ice, depending on various factors such as temperature, location, height, … to continue to emphasize the placement of insurance to avoid risk.

The article continued with some recommendations on the necessary equipment, including ice axes. And finally, a few tricks for setting up meetings and placement of screws.

Do not miss the original article if you want to learn a little theory about ice climbing.
