Historical icefall for the GAME |
|
|
The Game has made its Winter Meeting from 28 February to 8 March. The destination for 2009 has been the U.S. Rocky Mountains, specifically in the state of Colorado. Turn out rose to 27 climbers, who report to the regional federations of Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia, Extremadura and the Basque Country. The foundation was established in the short cut of Ouray, a magnificent area for ice climbing, both for its potential as per their tradition.
Throughout the week, good weather has allowed the different roped ascent of a large number of routes. Some of the tracks are among the toughest in the area, as Slylight (II-5), in Ouray, or Bridalveil Fall (III-5 +), in the nearby town of Telluride and considered one of the icefall classic worldwide.
Besides the main waterfalls of Colorado, members of GAME activity moved to Moab for a few days, located in Utah, to climb some of the best routes in that state.
The Spanish High Mountain Group has already defined the country for their next Winter Meeting 2010, which will go to Iceland.
