First repeat Shackleton’s route

Submitted by on Wednesday, 17 February 2010No Comment

Just two days after the opening of Route Shakelton (170m, M9, WI6) by Manu Cordova and Mikel Zabalza, the route considered one of the most difficult winter climbs of the Pyrenees and has a first iteration and a first chain by Martin Elias. The 26-year-old member of the Spanish team recently Mountaineering chained all the way alternating long runs with his brother and director of the EEA Simon Elias.

Martin has certified the difficulties: "I had never climbed so hard but I think it fits with what I usually chained to view mixed schools I’ve visited. The first feature is definitely the most challenging but there are still many feet then kept in the physical and psychological as above. In response to the high exposure of the itinerary Simon comments that "there may be other more difficult routes in the Pyrenees, the Fuenfría perhaps, but surely this is the hardest way by the physical and technical requirement for the great commitment . In the last two are long drops many feet on highly technical movements and last through 6 th grade I was only able to place insurance in the 40 meters of ice very fragile. "

Shakelton Route ( "This track is incredible," exclaimed Simon) just opened but it is becoming a reference scale for the best climbers in the country between those who are in a privileged Martin Elijah, the first chainer of this "magic line" of Zabalza and Cordova.
