Climbing in the mountains of the Hoggar in the Sahara desert.

The mountains of the Hoggar. Located in southern Algeria and north of Tamanrasset, these mountains are unique not only for the beauty of its red walls, if not because its base is covered with the sand of one of the world’s largest deserts, the Sahara. Imagine a place with red walls of about 300 m torn by dihedral, vertical fissures and chimneys and surrounded by millions of square miles without a stable population, only small camps of the nomadic Touareg.
The residents of this desert to survive in one of the most barren places on Earth, with a harsh climate that allows the survival of very few species. This means that resources for those living with the Toureg are really minimal, but despite this, people are kind of a character, warm and friendly and are always willing to offer space in their camp, or a cup of tea warm in the icy nights of the Sahara. During our stay in Algeria as we climbed the walls of Adaouda, Elephant, Ihaghen and Tizouyag.

All are worth much on the tracks as the landscape that surrounds them. Predominates in all the cracks and escalating dihedral except the elephant which is a granite dome similar to the helmet of Pedriza homogeneous and composite plates with small regletitas in all its aspects.
If I have to highlight some of the tracks we did for her beauty, I think I would be with the Nouvelle Lune (6b +, 290 m) and the Grand Tizouyag the dihedral Adaouda (6a +, 140 m).
In any case, I think the highlight of the activity is the environment that has been developed. We all enjoyed our trip through the desert with walls of old friends and making new ones. The Touareg quickly won our confidence and, despite the austerity to which obliges the desert, led disfrutasemos both the scale of the fires in the camps and the jokes and laughter during supper.
