Mountaineering Course in Madrid (Sierra de Guadarrama) – Introduction to High Mountain Winter

Introduction
The climbing is certainly the most complete mountain discipline and demanding that we develop in the mountains. The High Mountain is a very demanding activity, both physically and mentally, the cold, intense and prolonged physical effort, the weight of the equipment used, the frequent early mornings and endless etcetera we make this activity often proves bittersweet but ends by leaving us, in most cases, the intense aroma of "that was worth it."


We will provide the knowledge and instruct you on using the tools that will open the doors of the High Mountain.

NOTE: Due to a significant change in temperature experienced in the Sierra de Guadarrama in recent winters, the conclusion of the courses in the mountains of Madrid is strongly conditioned by the snowy conditions and mantle evolution.

Objective of the course,
This course is intended to acquire the necessary skills that allow you to safely practice and autonomy winter mountaineering low and medium difficulty (F & PD). Learn the basic techniques of progression and safety, familiarizing yourself with all the usual material in mountaineering, besides acquiring the necessary knowledge on the environment.

Contents of the course,
● Material and basic mountaineering equipment. Operation and maintenance
● Operation of crampons and ice ax. Progression techniques.
● Chordee glacier. Progression. Basic knots.
● self-arrest on snow slopes.
● Assurance. Meetings in snow / ice.
● Abseiling self-insured. Descent.
● Camps in snow. Installing stores. Bivouac.
● Planning mountain ascents.
● Knowledge of the means snowy.
● Guidance on snowy ground.
● Notions on nivology, avalanche control and the European level of risk of avalanches.

Material / Equipment Needed,
● Appropriate clothes for the cold-lining, waterproof jacket, cubrepantalon, gloves, hat, … 
● Winter Boots: stiff leather.
● Backpack at least 50 liters.
● Water bottle.
● Head lamp
● Sunglasses and blizzard.
● High protection sun cream.
● Crampons with ‘antizueco’ and ax crossing.
● Water and picnic lunch.

Material / Equipment Recommended (Not Required)
● Town of climbing.
● Harness mountaineering / climbing, preferably adjustable.
● 2 flat ribbon sewn meeting of 120 cm.
● 2 slings 6 mm and 140 cm in length.
● 3 types HMS carabiners safety and D.
● Reverse or similar security with HMS carabiner.
● Rope ‘DOUBLE’ 9 mm X 60m with water repellent treatment.
● Some ice screws.

Minimum requirements,
- You do not need mountaineering experience. Yes, it is desirable in acceptable physical condition and be used to mountain walking.
- Be Land or have an accident insurance for sports activities covering the activities to be performed. Since we can manage your card Todovertical federal, or accident insurance for 9 € / day.

Duration,
One weekend, 2 days.

Includes:
- Guide / Teacher exclusive for the group.
- Transfers Guide / Teacher in the Community of Madrid.
- Material / equipment required individual and collective security, in perfect condition and approved by the EC and the UIAA.
